8th OWL Anthology - Good Vibes Only
The theme of the 8th OWL anthology is "Utopia - a perfect society".
We want your thoughts, poems and stories on how you imagine a perfect world to look like.
What makes a perfect society perfect? Is your perfect world still a perfect world for me? How is conflict handled if everything is perfect? Is there even any conflict? How was the perfect society created? How is it maintained and how will it end? And what happens to those that just don’t fit in?
The title of the anthology is "Good Vibes Only". Preliminary publication date is November of 2026.
The submission window for the anthology will open on 1st May 2025 and close 31st May 2025.
Acceptance information will be send out in September of 2025.
Submissions will be open to writers residing in Norway, current and former paying members of OWL, as well as all paying participants of the OWL Writing Retreat in August 2024.
Submission is free for current paying OWL members and all authors under the age of 25.
Reading fee of 150nok/15€ per piece for non-members age 25 and above.

For the first time in OWL history, all of our volunteer proofreaders (who not have a publication in the book themselves), will act as judges. They will elect their favorite pieces in each category - literary fiction, non-fiction, genre fiction and poetry. The winners will be announced at the book release event.
The winners of each category will receive a free copy of the anthology.
In addition the overall winner with the most votes will receive the OWL award.

Submission Requirements
Your submission must be in English and should fit into one of the following categories:
Literary fiction (ca. 1000-7000 words)
Creative non-fiction or memoir (ca. 1000-7000 words)
Speculative fiction or genre fiction (ca. 1000-7000 words)
Poetry (please keep your submissions to no more than two pages and under 500 words)
Content regulations
Do not use the theme or title of the anthology as the title of your submission.
While we do accept some coarse language and swearing, use should not be gratuitous.
We will not publish erotica or subversive pieces.
We do not accept AI generated content. However, using AI for proofreading and spellchecking is strongly encouraged.
Please make sure your submission is proofread, spellchecked and in the best shape possible.
To ensure blind reading of the submissions, do not mention your name anywhere inside the document!
Formatting requirements
Your submission must be
in .doc, .docx or google doc format,
with approx. 3cm margins,
double-spaced,
in a clear 12-point typeface, such as Times New Roman.
If unsure, adhere to Shunn format. Submissions that do not follow formatting guidelines may be rejected.
Maximum two submissions per person.
No reprints! Original work only. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, as long as you inform us immediately via email if your piece is accepted elsewhere.
